Jamie and I spent 3 years producing a long form documentary about his art practice, geopolitical opinions and background. After this was complete, Jamie asked me to document the exhibition he was curating for the students he teaches at a local community centre. Jamie had asked the children to create art to exhibit at a local venue, and promoted the event to local families and friends. I captured the event in full and produced an event film to promote Jamie’s youth work in the local area.

Jamie takes an unconventional approach to teaching art, and takes the group he teaches to an abandoned railway line under a bridge in Ashington to paint with full creativity using spray paint and other materials. Jamie believes the world is a canvas and that we should be free to collaborate with our environment and express our creativity in an open space which is free to access. I documented one of these outings with Jamie’s youth group and captured some interviews with his students about what art means to them and what they enjoy most about their studies with Jamie. they enjoy most about their studies with Jamie.
